Lake House Day 2

Saturday morning started out rainy. It was Amelia's 10th birthday and she requested crepes for breakfast. During the afternoon, all the guys headed out on a mountain biking trip near Duluth. The trails were pretty intense but they survived with just a few cuts and bruises. When they got home we had a yummy dinner (an authentic Wisconsin fish boil) and then celebrated Amelia's birthday with cake and presents. She loved having so many people to celebrate with. We hardly ever get a chance to celebrate birthdays with family, and such a huge number of family!

Watching the rain out of the window.

Abe brought all the components to make these fun robots. Everyone had fun working on these throughout the week.

Birthday lego set! Amelia took over this little nook in the kitchen with her legos.

My mom brought lots of fun Wisconsin treats and foods, including Kringles! So good.

A woodland fairy (aka favorite Aunt Steph) left a note every morning for the kids to find that gave them a clue to the location of a daily treat and toy. The kids loved it. They were each given bags to leave out each night for their daily surprise.

Lake House Day 1

My parents rented the most fantastic lake house for our reunion in Wisconsin this year. It used to operate as a lodge back in the 50s and 60s. It sits on Nicaboyne Lake and was so scenic and peaceful. They had recently added on an awesome covered porch but much of the inside was original and it was fun to imagine what it was like back in the day. There were several original signs posted from the lodge that were fun to read. And it was filled with the most amazing collection of mid-century modern furniture. I would have been happy to just have one chair or piece of furniture from this house. The decor was really fun and the book collection alone could have kept me busy for a long time. The house was huge with lots of different spaces for relaxing and hanging out. There were two fun bunk bed rooms for the kids. It was very kid-friendly and there was a perfect play area behind the bar for the kids complete with loads of toys and a tv.

We all started arriving Friday evening and had fun exploring. The kids got right down to business playing with their cousins. The house came with a pontoon boat, a canoe, and a pedal boat and my parents brought their kayaks so we were set for fun on the lake.

We found a little fairy door!

Amelia got brave and jumped off the boat.

The fridge was stocked with cheese and a variety of yogurt from my dad as well as a supply of Sprecher.

Cheese curds!
