Blue Ridge Parkway: Hike 3

After stopping at a few more scenic overlooks, our final hike was Craggy Gardens. The kids loved climbing around the rocks on this trail and the terrain was so different from our previous hike.

A random encounter with "Banjo Bear" on one of our stops.

Blue Ridge Parkway: Hike 2

We stopped to take a short walk under the impressive Linn Cove Viaduct. Our second hike took us to another beautiful overlook and on a gorgeous walk on a leaf-covered trail. Elsa and Simon laughed their heads off throwing leaves at each other. We had a picnic lunch before continuing on the parkway to our final hike.

Blue Ridge Parkway: Hike 1

The colors on the Blue Ridge Parkway were stunning. We found three different hikes to do along the parkway and each one gave us different views, terrain, and temperatures. Our first hike on Rough Ridge took us to an amazing vista. It was crazy windy when we reached the top and the kids were freaked out so we didn't stay and admire the views for long. They loved climbing on the rocks along the trail.

The girls had an early release day at school a few Fridays ago so we picked them up and headed toward the mountains to check out the fall colors. We stayed at a hotel about an hour from the Blue Ridge Parkway so we could be on the trails early the next morning. We arrived with plenty of time to swim and then enjoy some Mellow Mushroom pizza in our room.
