Assateague Island

We said a rainy goodbye to the Ocean City boardwalk Tuesday morning and made our way to Assateague Island. The rain stopped just when we arrived and it turned out to be a perfect day for hiking around the island and checking out wildlife.

We did three separate hikes on the island. One was through the forest, one went through the marshlands, and one was on the sand dunes and paralleled the ocean. We were the ONLY people around. It was awesome.




Our first sighting of the famed wild ponies of Assateague. We camped here almost 2 years ago and are hoping to find time to do it again this summer.




It was so beautiful with all the mist.




Amelia doesn't go anywhere without her notebook and pen. She did a little trail side sketching and writing.












We found 2 giant snakes! And a huge crab and lots of bunnies and birds.
