Amelia turns 11!

Amelia really wanted a red velvet cake for her birthday and she wanted to decorate it herself to look like the night sky. She did an awesome job and I always love to see her creativity at work. We had cake the night before her birthday and opened some of her presents since Ben had to be gone the evening of her actual birthday. We surprised her with an appointment to get her ears pierced after our trip. She squealed and screamed with excitement and immediately ran to the computer to email her cousin Anna to share the good news.

The next morning on her birthday, we surprised her with a trip to the Greensboro Science Center to do the ropes course. She had been wanting to try the course since our visit there last year. She and Ben did the course together while the rest of us explored the museum, aquarium and farm. It was fun to watch them on the course too. Amelia had so much fun. She requested Chinese food for her birthday lunch and then had a play date with her friend Kate and  opened the rest of her presents that night.

Amelia requested a stuffed boll weevil for her birthday (I think she got excited about boll weevils after our many visits to the cotton farm). It was an odd request but my mom took it as a crochet challenge and managed to crochet a boll weevil for Amelia. She was thrilled. She named him Bowler Henry Weevil.
