Brookside Gardens

We were happy to get one final summer outing with our friends the Littles before school started. We met at Brookside Gardens for a picnic. The kids had a great time playing in the children's garden which had recently been redone. Unfortunately, much of the rest of the gardens were under construction but it was still a beautiful spot to spend a summer day.

Oliver loved this drum set. A noise level I could tolerate.

Everyone found their walking buddy.

Our outings usually include some kind of theatrical performance. I don't remember exactly what was happening here, but I'm pretty sure melting was involved.

more brookside (also, the 1,111th post!)

I was anticipating my 1,000th post on this bog and then it came and went and I completely missed it! So here's to the 1,111th post! (which probably equals 10,000+ photos!) Fitting that it should be a visit to a garden because that's probably one of the most frequently blogged about things.

After visiting the butterfly exhibit at Brookside, Ben was able to meet up with us to explore the rest of the gardens. It was a beautiful spring evening and the weather was perfect. The kids never stopped running. I'm glad Ben was there because feeding Simon while keeping track of Oliver is impossible.

So green!

Oliver spent a lot of time chasing geese.

Simon was there.

butterflies at brookside.

A few weeks ago we took advantage of Amelia's early release day from school and went to Brookside Gardens in Maryland. The "Wings of Fancy" exhibit had opened again and we loved it so much last year that we wanted to see it again. There are so many butterflies and we pretty much had the place to ourselves. Oliver was eager to point out every butterfly he saw.

The biggest moth in the world!
