sunday evening stroll: monastery

We took advantage of the beautiful weather on Sunday afternoon and visited the Franciscan Monastery in D.C. which has a gorgeous display of tulips every spring. The kids always love running through the colonnades and exploring the garden.

My mom is here! The kids are so happy to have her here (although probably not as happy as I am to have the extra help) and we're all awaiting the arrival of baby brother.

We stopped by the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception which is nearby.

A few weeks ago we went to one of my favorite spring spots, the Franciscan Monastery in D.C. The tulips here are amazing and the gardens around the monastery are lovely. The architectural details are especially fun to photograph. (It's modeled after the Hagia Sophia in Istanbul.) I didn't end up with many photos of the kids because they were too busy (reverently?) running through the colonnades.
