Labor Day

We went to Prince William Forest Park on Labor Day. We love this place because it's never crowded. We stopped at the playground first and the kids had fun even though it had rained and everything was wet. We went on a short hike to our favorite little swimming hole. We waded down the river to a point where it gets just deep enough to swim. After hiking we stopped at the playground once more before heading home to prepare for the first day of school.

The kids had fun playing with this little lizard. Until another kid at the playground killed it.

national colonial farm + water fun

We fit in one last summer adventure with Jessica and her kids at the National Colonial Farm. It was a beautiful summer day on the farm. We finished the day in our backyard, cooling off with a water slide, pools, and slip 'n slide.

Brookside Gardens

We were happy to get one final summer outing with our friends the Littles before school started. We met at Brookside Gardens for a picnic. The kids had a great time playing in the children's garden which had recently been redone. Unfortunately, much of the rest of the gardens were under construction but it was still a beautiful spot to spend a summer day.

Oliver loved this drum set. A noise level I could tolerate.

Everyone found their walking buddy.

Our outings usually include some kind of theatrical performance. I don't remember exactly what was happening here, but I'm pretty sure melting was involved.
