fourth of july feast.

My parents arrived Wednesday night to spend the Fourth of July holiday weekend with us. The kids were so excited for them to come and the girls made lots of welcome signs for them.

 

The kids were spoiled all weekend with lots of attention. My parents are always so good about playing with the kids and making them feel special. My dad was quick to entertain Oliver in the backyard when the rest of us were too tired and hot to go outside. And I'm pretty sure he spent a fair amount of time playing Legos and Polly Pockets on the floor with the girls. My mom played Frog Juice with the girls again and gave my arms a rest from carting around Simon. He loved snuggling with Grandma.

We put my dad right to work and he helped Ben with several projects in our yard all day on the Fourth (even in the awful heat). He planted some new bushes for us and laid down some paver stones to Ben's new office shed. We did take a break to have a delicious lunch feast and Ben grilled us some yummy burgers.
