The kids had to go to school on Presidents Day because it was a snow make-up day (they are losing 2 other days too which is lame) but Ben had the day off. We decided to do a long bike ride since we just had Ruby and Simon. This was the first time we put Ruby in the bike trailer and she did really well (although she wanted nothing to do with her helmet). Simon didn't tease her too much and they both were troopers for our long ride and eventually fell asleep too which was nice. We tried a different section of the Neuse River Trail and it was really pretty. Lots of bridges and the trail was pretty empty. We did a 20 mile ride and the weather was so perfect. After our ride we picked up lunch and had a picnic at one of our favorite parks to give Ruby and Simon a chance to get out and play.
All the kids had been cycling through some kind of sickness, flu perhaps. It started with Elsa the previous week, then Amelia and Oliver. Cold symptoms, fever, fatigue, and a few of the kids threw up. But mostly they just slept. Simon got sick that night but luckily Ruby never did. We thought it was funny how dedicated Simon was to his puke bowl. He never missed which was nice. He was the one kid who did NOT suffer any sort of fatigue. Classic Simon. Always going.
