more brookside (also, the 1,111th post!)

I was anticipating my 1,000th post on this bog and then it came and went and I completely missed it! So here's to the 1,111th post! (which probably equals 10,000+ photos!) Fitting that it should be a visit to a garden because that's probably one of the most frequently blogged about things.

After visiting the butterfly exhibit at Brookside, Ben was able to meet up with us to explore the rest of the gardens. It was a beautiful spring evening and the weather was perfect. The kids never stopped running. I'm glad Ben was there because feeding Simon while keeping track of Oliver is impossible.

So green!

Oliver spent a lot of time chasing geese.

Simon was there.

butterflies at brookside.

A few weeks ago we took advantage of Amelia's early release day from school and went to Brookside Gardens in Maryland. The "Wings of Fancy" exhibit had opened again and we loved it so much last year that we wanted to see it again. There are so many butterflies and we pretty much had the place to ourselves. Oliver was eager to point out every butterfly he saw.

The biggest moth in the world!

one month old.

It's hard to believe but Simon is already 5 weeks old. He offered us his first real smiles last week! The girls are always trying to get him to smile and go crazy when he does.

One month stats: 11 lbs 2 oz (75th%) and 22 3/4 inches (90th%)
Definitely our biggest baby.

He's usually very fussy in the evenings (aren't we all) but he has been sleeping for 8 hour stretches at night so I only have to get up once to feed him which is great. Poor kid doesn't have a room to call his own and currently sleeps in the dining room at night. He doesn't seem to mind.

Oliver's current pronunciation of Simon sounds like "salmon," as in the fish.

Oliver had his 2 1/2 year check-up along with Simon. He is at the 10th percentile for height and 25th for weight. We weren't sure how he would react to getting a shot. Turns out no tears were shed for the shot. But they were for the reward: a sticker. Oliver HATES stickers. He is truly afraid of them. If you want to see him squirm, just stick one on him. Not that I've ever done that...
