sunday evening stroll

We love going on walks on our quiet dead-end street. The kids can ride their bikes and scooters and we don't have to worry too much about cars. It's especially nice right now because the main road connecting to our street is closed while they replace a bridge so it dead ends right at our street. We can walk out on the main road which is normally a pretty busy 45 mph road (with no sidewalks). The kids like to walk down to the construction site and check on the progress of the bridge.

Jordan Lake

We stopped at Jordan Lake after picking blueberries and peaches and had a fun afternoon relaxing on the beach and playing in the water.

The next morning Ben watched all 9 kids so Kirsten and I could go out to breakfast. We enjoyed a delicious meal at La Farm and it was so nice to be kid-free and enjoy the company of a good friend. The kids hated to see their friends leave later that morning. Goodbyes are always hard.

Farm Week: picking peaches

After we loaded up on blueberries, it was time for peaches. Some of the peach trees had been infested with huge beetles which sent all the girls screaming and running. The girls wanted nothing to do with the peaches but Oliver and Simon stuck around and helped me pick a bushel. The peaches were huge and beautiful. So many branches were drooping to the ground under the weight of the peaches. Simon had fun tossing peaches into the basket.

Farm Week: blueberry picking

We finally pulled the kids away from the tire swings and sound wall and headed to the orchards. We started with blueberries. Simon was in heaven. This kid puts everything in his mouth so it was nice that it was something edible for a change.

Simon and Charlotte sneaking berries.

Elsa tried to stage a photo with her brothers. Ha!

Love this fun crew!

Farm Week: Millstone Creek Orchards

We took our friends to Millstone Creek Orchards to pick blueberries and peaches. The kids ran straight for these fun tire swings. They also had this great sound wall which the kids LOVED. All kinds of pots and pans with spoons for banging.
