Tulips at Duke Gardens

Possibly my favorite thing this spring was an early morning visit to Duke Gardens when the tulips were in full bloom. I left early with Simon while Ben got the older kids off to school. It had rained the night before so the flowers were covered with rain drops and the colors were rich and saturated. We also had the place to ourselves which made it even more beautiful and peaceful. Simon was patient while I snapped a million pictures with my iphone. There were so many flowers and trees in bloom everywhere we looked.

This was the peak of the pine pollen.

yates mill

The boys and I had a fun walk around Yates Mill one morning. We had the whole place to ourselves and saw lots of beautiful spring blooms. It ended up being a really warm day so we broke out the pool when we got home.

Simon loves to hold Oliver's hand for pictures.

And a random shot of the office nook in the kitchen. I painted this wall a few different colors before settling on this black which I love (more of a dark dark gray). I still need to do a post with before and after kitchen photos.

flowers and scenic spots

A visit to Lake Wheeler with the boys one day, some pictures of the beautiful camellias blooming in our front yard, and a fun evening walk at Crowder Park with all the kids.
