Utah: Pineview Reservoir

We spent a day at Pineview Reservoir, trying to cool off in the water, playing in the sand, kayaking and having fun with family. That evening we had a surprise retirement party for my parents. We had all collaborated on a music video (Chicago's "You're the Inspiration") so we watched that and then we had pies from Kneaders. As an added surprise, their mission call had arrived that day at Jen's house. The person collecting the mail opened it and took a picture and texted it to my parents so they were able to "open" their mission call with all of us there which was really fun. They are going to the Ecuador, Guayaquil mission (serving in the temple)!

 

Utah: Eden

We had an awesome mini reunion with my family in Eden. My parents rented a beautiful home for us that looked out over the valley. It had access to a pool which the kids loved. But mostly they loved spending time with their cousins. On the first night they put on a play for us. A few of us drove up to the top of Powder Mountain to watch the sunset and the panoramic views were amazing.

Utah: Natural History Museum

We made a quick stop at the Natural History Museum in Salt Lake before heading to Eden to meet up with my parents and siblings for a little reunion.

Utah: Albion Basin

We took a short break from visiting family and friends to relax and hang out with just our family. We spent a day hiking up in the Albion Basin and it was absolutely beautiful. We started with delicious waffles from Bruges before heading up the canyon. We planned to do the short hike to Silver Lake but the road to the trailhead was closed so we started the hike from further down the mountain. It ended up being 5 miles but the kids were troopers and we were able to make it all the way to the lake. The wildflowers were starting to bloom everywhere and it was just gorgeous scenery in every direction. The kids loved scrambling up rocks and exploring. We even encountered some snow.
