Durham Adventures
My dear friend Kristilyn (from high school days!) was in High Point for work so she extended her stay to hang out with us for the weekend. I picked her up Friday afternoon in High Point and our first order of business was to see the "world's largest chest of drawers." Of course. We stopped in Durham to walk around Duke Gardens and the Duke campus. We popped into the Duke Chapel and then headed to downtown Durham for dinner. We had the yummiest pizza at Pizzeria Toro and then took a quick walk through the American Tobacco Campus.
Aloha Safari Zoo
After we picked up Amelia from her camping trip, I surprised the kids with an afternoon at the Aloha Safari Zoo. We had never been before and it turned out to be so fun! And also really hot. But it's a small zoo with all rescue animals. They had a huge variety of animals from bears and tigers and alligators to farm animals. You get to feed lots of the animals and get up close which is always fun. They also have a fun tractor ride to see all the big animals like camels, zebras, and ostriches and you can throw bread out to them. We rode it twice because the kids loved it so much. They also loved feeding the giraffe.
