First camping trip of the season!

We were able to meet up with our friends the Dyckmans for a fun camping trip at Pocahontas State Park near Richmond. We love to go camping at this time of year because we usually have the campground nearly to ourselves and we avoid the mosquitos. Although not the ticks. We found two on Amelia, but after several years in Virginia, she's used to having them removed.

I got to enjoy an early Mother's Day gift of a new sleeping bag. Hooray!

Elsa enjoyed eating rocks.

We cheated for dinner and ate at a nearby Ledo Pizza. It was soooo delicious.

Amelia and Ethan had fun playing with glow sticks at night.

Getting smoked out by the fire. Okay. So it wasn't exactly a fire of the roaring variety. The wood was too wet and the husbands finally gave up. But we had enough heat to make s'mores and that's all that matters. After the kids went to bed, we stayed up late and enjoyed a game of cribbage.

This crazy bug was doing wild loops around our campsite and finally landed on Ben's head. We tried to tell Amelia it was Tinkerbell, but she said it was impossible because the wings weren't sparkley.

Enjoying a delicious pancake breakfast.

Ethan and Amelia had so much fun running around together. It was so great to see them playing together again.

Right before we left, I realized that we hadn't taken any pictures of Jonah and Elsa together. Elsa had already fallen asleep so this was the best we could do.
