GERMANY (Zugspitze: Top of Germany)

After we got off the train at the Eibsee Lake, we took a cable car to the top of the Zugspitze, Germany's tallest mountain. This was one of our favorite moments of the trip. The cable car ride was insane. It just shot straight up the side of the mountain. It was completely scary to think about hanging in this tiny little car thousands of feet up. A few times it would dip slightly and make your stomach drop. When we started to get close to the top, everything was frozen and there were all these crackling sounds and I was pretty sure the cable car was going to freeze and snap. It was an amazing ride!

We were actually above the clouds, in the blue sky.

We descended on a different cable car which was much shorter. We only descended for a second and we were out of the cloud that was hanging around the top of the mountain. We emerged on the most amazing views from the backside of the peak.

From this point, we got on the train and it took a very slow route through a tunnel in the mountain. We finally emerged and had great views of the Eibsee.
