oak view county park

We had a fun morning wandering around Historic Oak View County Park with friends and ended our visit with a picnic in the gazebo. The azaleas were in full bloom, as well as our favorite giant hydrangea bush.

A quiet morning at Historic Oak View County Park. Loved seeing signs of spring.

Not wanting to share the tractor with big brother.

Three Bears Acres

I found this fun farm just outside of Raleigh called Three Bears Acres. It was perfect for one last adventure before the first day of school. It was super hot that day but the kids still had a great time and there was a fun water area with a slip 'n slide to cool off.

The kids loved playing in the mud kitchen.

Farm Week: Historic Oak View

We kicked off farm week with a trip to Historic Oak View County Park. We had a fantastic visit and had the whole place to ourselves. We checked out one of their "adventure backpacks." They had several backpacks with different themes for different age groups. Amelia decided on the Antebellum Era backpack. Each pocket was filled with an activity to do throughout the farm that taught us all about the Antebellum Era. We really loved using the backpack and will definitely do it again next time. After we explored the farm, we ended our visit playing in the Farmer's Corner. The kids always have so much fun playing here and are a flurry of activity making dinner, cleaning up, and doing chores. I wish they were so devoted to real chores at home.

Lincoln Logs in the log cabin.

Dressing up as the original owners of the cotton farm and then drawing self portraits.

Spelling tests on little chalkboards.
