Our next theme week was "Little House on the Prairie Week." Amelia had already read the books but I introduced the kids to the tv show and they loved it. I was surprised since it's a little slow moving at times, but they really got into it.
During the week we made our own bread and butter, learned about life in the "olden days" at Oak View Farm and Yates Mill, and started our week off by visiting the Prairie Ridge Ecostation. The kids had the most fun cooling off in the river there.

prairie ridge ecostation
The girls had an early release from school one afternoon so we headed to the Prairie Ridge Ecostation. It was a warm day and the kids had fun walking through the river (and eventually just going all the way under water).

Nature Week: Prairie Ridge Ecostation
I found the perfect place to take the kids for nature week. The Prairie Ridge Ecostation, which is part of the NC Museum of Natural Sciences, has a super fun "nature play space." The kids had so much fun creating an imaginary world. I'm always in awe of their imaginations. As an added bonus, we had the place to ourselves. Everyone left muddy and happy.
