Longwood Gardens

I wanted to get one final use out of my annual pass for Longwood Gardens before it expired. (And I also needed to get the kids out of the house for the day so Ben could get a painting project done.) My friend Hillary and her boys joined us a few weeks ago for a little road trip. There was some rain in the forecast but things looked better for the afternoon. We headed out mid-morning and what should have taken us just over 2 hours took us over 3 hours! The traffic was horrible and it rained the whole way. Luckily the kids all did great in the car.

We decided to explore the big conservatory first, hoping the rain would let up a bit. But it never did. It rained (and often poured) the entire day. Luckily there is lots to see in the conservatory and the kids didn't mind getting wet when we explored a few of the tree houses outside. My friend Jessica was also there with her kids (she and I had split an annual pass) so it was fun to spend a little time with them too. We didn't cover all of the grounds, but the kids loved playing in the indoor children's garden so that's where we spent a lot of our time.

The hall of bathrooms is the coolest.

I realized I hadn't taken any pictures of Simon so I took this on the changing table in the bathroom.

The ride back home took almost just as long and we got home pretty late. Luckily, the kids did great again. And it gave Ben more time to finish painting our hallway without all the kids around.

  1. Seeing you there was the highlight for my kids. I enjoyed the rain and saturated colors! Thanks for sharing a pass with me!
