We had so much fun last year that we decided to do the monster mini golf at Cameron Run again this year. The decorations weren't quite as good as last year but the kids still had fun fighting off creepy monster babies and giant spiders. Oliver wandered off course a lot last year but this year he was really into playing golf and getting his ball in the hole.

Amelia requested pizza for her birthday meal so when Ben was back in town we headed out for an afternoon of activities that started with pizza at Pupatella in Arlington. The pizza was so delicious. And they have donuts! The nutella donut was amazing.

Our next stop was the National Building Museum to try out the new mini golf course. (Check out last year's course here.) The holes are all designed by area architects and are a lot of fun. As usual, Oliver was difficult to manage. He kept wandering off and interfering with other people's balls.

The weekend before Halloween we decided to use an almost-expired Groupon for mini golf at Cameron Run Regional Park.

We showed up for mini golf but were pleasantly surprised with MONSTER mini golf. The whole course was decked out with creepy Halloween decorations. The kids loved it (it probably helped that it was still daylight outside) and we were the only ones there! Which was especially nice because Oliver pretty much wandered around and did his own thing (occasionally removing someone's ball from the green).

The deal also included admission to the giant play place, which was a huge it. Ben and I even attempted a ride down the gigantic twisty slide, which made me completely dizzy.

But that's not all! We also got to use the batting cages. Well, Ben used the batting cages while I prevented Oliver from sneaking inside cages and running into the line of fire. (Not an easy task, and one that resulted in a massive bruise on my arm. Not from a ball, but from running into a gate trying to catch Oliver. That kid is fast.)

We finally had a day with fairly mild temperatures so we went to Watkins Regional Park in Maryland which has lots of fun things to do. We played mini golf, rode the train, visited Old Maryland Farm, had a picnic, played on the playground, and checked out the nature center.

Clearly we wore Oliver out.

A few weeks ago we headed into D.C. for a Saturday adventure. We started at the National Building Museum. They have a fantastic temporary exhibit there right now—a miniature golf course with holes designed by local architects. Seriously cool. We had a great time playing the course. I pretty much had the best game of my life with five holes-in-one. I even managed to get my ball in the hole on the crazy skate ramp. It was exciting. I highly recommend checking out the course while you can.
