zoo field trip
I couldn't be a chaperone for Elsa's class field trip to the zoo because I would have Oliver and Simon tagging along, so instead I just took the boys to the zoo and we met up with Elsa's group and walked around with them for a while. Elsa was so excited to see us there and Oliver loved walking around with the big kids.

NC Zoo
Since we were rained out on Christmas Eve, we decided to go the zoo the day after Christmas. The weather was perfect. We stopped at Cook Out for lunch on our way. Simon loves dipping anything in anything. He was a big fan of mustard on this particular day.

Science Week: NC Zoo
I took the kids to the zoo one day during science week and we walked through the special "Bugs" exhibit that was there this summer. The kids LOVED it. There were these ridiculous giant animatronic bugs placed along a path in the forest. They were super creepy and the kids thought they were awesome and disgusting. They screamed every time we approached a new one. One even surprised Oliver by spraying him with water. At least we hope it was water. There was a firefly that lit up and a spider that went up and down a web. They all moved in some way. And we had the exhibit to ourselves which was fun. The exhibit ended with a few real bugs we could look at, which weren't nearly as exciting as the super sized bugs.

north carolina zoo
We ventured out to the North Carolina Zoo with the Vermont crew. The kids had fun but the zoo is so big and it was a warm day so everyone wore down pretty quickly. It can be exhausting to get from one exhibit to the next. Poor Oliver had overdosed on gummy vitamins that morning (ate half of a giant container and then promptly threw them up). He seemed fine after that so we went forward with our zoo plans. But by the time we got there, he wasn't feeling so well anymore. So he spent most of his time miserable in the stroller. Which makes two sick zoo visits in a row for him. Sad.
