richmond: zoo

We had such a fun visit to the Richmond Zoo. We've been here a few other times and the kids always love it. It's a smaller zoo so it's not as exhausting to get through but they still have a lot of animals and you can get much closer to them. Plus, you can feed the giraffes which is always a highlight. The weather was perfect this day and we practically had the whole zoo to ourselves.

Notice Simon sneaking under the rope in the background.

north carolina zoo

We ventured out to the North Carolina Zoo with the Vermont crew. The kids had fun but the zoo is so big and it was a warm day so everyone wore down pretty quickly. It can be exhausting to get from one exhibit to the next. Poor Oliver had overdosed on gummy vitamins that morning (ate half of a giant container and then promptly threw them up). He seemed fine after that so we went forward with our zoo plans. But by the time we got there, he wasn't feeling so well anymore. So he spent most of his time miserable in the stroller. Which makes two sick zoo visits in a row for him. Sad.

green bay: wildlife

Saturday we ventured out to the Wildlife Sanctuary and fed the geese and checked out all the cool birds (including lots of owls!). The Wildlife Sanctuary also has some fun indoor displays and an indoor slide that the kids loved.

Our next stop was the zoo. The girls were excited to see the giraffes and penguins (two things our zoo doesn't have).

Oliver was interested in everything but the (real) animals.

I remember climbing this tower when I was a kid. Amelia, Naomi, and Elsa went up and down several times. I don't know where they got their energy.
