Another favorite spot. We have loved being able to drive just a few minutes over the bridge into Maryland to visit Oxon Hill Farm which we almost always have to ourselves. There were still some fall colors lingering when we visited a few weeks ago. Such a beautiful, peaceful setting.

oxon hill farm
This has been a pretty mild summer without the extreme heat we often feel. We celebrated one of these beautiful summer days with a trip to Oxon Hill Farm.
The kids had (successful and cavity-free) dentist appointments later that day and Elsa had Simon laughing his head off in the waiting room. This kid and his giant smiles. Can't get enough.
Whenever they find a stump, the girls always pretend to be a tree.

Rainbow Fluff and Admiral visit the farm.
A few Saturdays ago I wanted to get the girls out of the house for the afternoon while Oliver and Grandma rested and Ben and his dad worked on the big shed project in the backyard. The girls weren't too excited about leaving until I suggested that they could each bring a stuffed animal and take pictures of their animal on the farm. Best suggestion ever. They loved running around Oxon Hill Farm and posing their animals for pictures. Amelia brought Rainbow Fluff, her koala, and Elsa brought Admiral (pronounced Ad-MY-ral), her penguin. I think they took nearly 200 photos on my phone.
A small sampling:
The weather was gorgeous and despite predictions of rain, it turned out to be a lovely day. So lovely that ice cream was in order so we picked up Shamrock shakes for everyone on the way home.

scenic view.
If you walk far enough down the path at Oxon Hill Farm in Maryland, you are rewarded with beautiful views of the Potomac and Virginia.

on the farm. again.
We had another incredibly warm day last week so we decided to spend the afternoon at Oxon Hill Farm. We were there right at feeding time. Oliver was mesmerized by the noisy pigs eating their food. He also had fun laughing at the chickens.
Once again I left the big camera at home and opted for the iphone. I must say I'm pretty impressed with that little thing.
