July 4, D.C. style.

We have made it a tradition to attend the rehearsal for the big Capitol Fourth concert the night before the 4th of July. Some friends joined us and we had fun watching the girls run in circles and dance for over an hour straight, and enjoyed some really loud musical performances from singing greats like Jerry Lee Lewis and uh, Taylor Hicks? (How did he win American Idol?)

It has also become a tradition to enjoy the fireworks in the rain. Despite the weather, we still headed to the Iwo Jima Memorial to watch the fireworks from across the river. The view of the monuments from there is beautiful and lots of our friends showed up to keep us company. Amelia didn't seem to care that it was pouring rain at times and had fun playing with her friends (although she was not a fan of the port-a-potties).

Our view for the fireworks.

Elsa was asleep for most of the excitement.

The girls.

Loving the rain.

The Webbs. Who will soon be leaving us for bigger and better things.

Fun with umbrellas.

Hiding out under our blanket tent.

Who put that cloud there?

  1. This looks so fun! Lots of great photos as always. I like the one of Ben holding Elsa in front of the capitol. What a treasure, and cool place to celebrate the fourth!
