Snow Days Forever

First blog post from my new computer!!!! Ben surprised me with a new iMac for Christmas! Our old iMac was so slow and giving me so many problems. I did a record number of blog posts last week so I could finally get caught up with this blog and get through all the photos that were already loaded on my old computer. Now the kids can use the old computer and stop messing up mine! It's taking some time to figure out this new operating system and get some things transferred but it's so speedy! And it's nice to get a fresh start with photo storage. So on with the January blog posts...

A big snow storm was predicted for the weekend after New Year's. We hoped to wake up to several inches of snow Saturday morning but we mostly had freezing rain and just a dusting of snow. It finally started snowing more and snowed all morning so we ended up with about an inch. But that was plenty to keep the kids outside playing for the next three days. Church was cancelled on Sunday and the kids ended up having school cancelled Monday through Wednesday. The roads seemed fine by Tuesday and everything was melted by Wednesday but our school district is huge and apparently certain areas of the county had more snow and ice.

It was fun to spend the whole weekend together at home. (Ben had to fly to D.C. for work Monday morning.) When we weren't playing outside we were warming up with hot chocolate, making yummy foods (ebelskivers, cinnamon rolls, cookies, rolls and soups), crafting in the art room or watching movies. The kids had lots of fun sledding and once the snow was gone they kept busy in the woods playing on all of the ice in the wetlands and the creek. It was COLD but they didn't seem to mind. By Wednesday there was no sign of the snow and temperatures were back to 60 by the end of the week.
