Wednesday afternoon we ventured about 25 minutes outside of Green Bay to the small town of Two Rivers to check out the Hamilton Wood Type and Printing Museum. This place was amazing. They have 1.5 million! pieces of wood type and more than 1,000 styles and sizes of patterns. They have the largest collection of wood type in the world. I'm really interested in letterpress printing so this was really fascinating to me.
Drawers and drawers full of wood type.
The guy in charge of the museum gave us a demonstration using this printing press.
omg. that place is fantastic. i will try and remember to bring my camera to my letterpress class on thursday night and take some pictures. i love being in the type room but this place seems way cooler.
ReplyDeleteMy grandpa was from Two Rivers. My dad lived there and Manitowoc as a kid. We used to go up there and visit my uncle. We had to take a trip to Green Bay to drive by Lambeau (sp?) Field. Reading all these posts makes me want to go back to WI!! People don't really know who cool it is!
