Ben had to travel a LOT in November and December. He was gone the week of his birthday but was able to sneak away from the job site for a day and celebrate his birthday with us. We had Chinese food from Banana Leaf for dinner and a butterscotch trifle for dessert. The girls always like to do some kind of performance on birthdays so they presented Ben with a Nutcracker performance using our little stick puppets. He and I went out to a movie and had Amelia babysit all the kids. It's been so great to have her start to babysit. We eased into it, putting Ruby down before going out. These kids love their dad so much. They scream for joy when he gets home from a work trip and tackle him at the door when he comes in. They fight for a spot next to him at the dinner table. I could never do this parenting thing without Ben. He works hard for our family and is pretty much the best.
