We had planned to leave the day after Christmas and drive down to Savannah for a few days and then on down to Florida and spend a few days at the beach using some of Ben's hotel points. But Ruby had a fever all weekend that wouldn't go away so we waited until Tuesday so we could get her into the doctor (everything was closed on Monday). We were pretty exhausted from Christmas and just the entire month and a long drive didn't sound that appealing anyway. (I had not done anything to prepare or pack either.) So after a lot of back and forth, we finally decided to cancel that trip and just go to Virginia Beach for a few nights. After some tests, we found out that Ruby had a UTI so we were finally able to get her feeling better with antibiotics.
The kids were completely content spending the day after Christmas at home, playing with their new toys and building their Lego sets. I took the boys out for an afternoon walk at Yates Mill to get out of the house and Ben had to get a new battery for the van and finish up raking the leaves.
